Episode #1 - Welcome to Jesus Christ and His Second Coming

My name is Spencer. I am the host of this channel, and I'm excited to have you here. I'm doing a quick introduction of what this channel is; so for first-time visitors, this is a great place to start just so you have some understanding of how this channel plans to operate. 

The first thing I want to talk about is what we will discuss and share in this channel. The focus of this channel is on Jesus Christ himself, our Lord, our Savior, our Redeemer, and his magnificent Second Coming that depending on what you understand and what, you believe, by many is set to be coming sooner than later, and so this is one of the reasons why I felt compelled to create this channel to share what I can from my learnings my understandings of Jesus Christ of his second coming. 

And so the question then comes up of what am I using as my sources for this topic. So I am starting first and foremost with what we find in the scriptures. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This channel is not endorsed, backed, or sponsored by them. I am not an official spokesman for the church. 

This is all my understanding, personal interpretation, and personal revelation that I've received through the spirit of the Holy Ghost as I've tried to study this topic. But, with that in mind, I am still using the teachings in the Holy Bible. We typically, as members of the LDS Church use the King James version, but there are other versions of the Bible that we are open to use as an additional point of view and understand that the way the Bible was written understanding that sometimes words' meanings change a little bit based off of the translation of the Bible.

That is one of our fundamental beliefs is that we do believe that the Holy Bible is the word of God as long as it's been translated correctly. We say that because from our perspective, from our belief, our understanding of the way of the history of Christianity, you know there have been men involved over the centuries in translating and re-translating the Bible, and over time, some things and imperfections have crept in. Sometimes malicious sometimes not malicious just the error of men and so we then also take the teachings of the Bible and we take its companion The Book of Mormon.

There are some additional insights and perspectives that come from The Book of Mormon that can help provide Clarity, which is one of the reasons why the Book of Mormon exists. It is the companion to the Holy Bible. It is not a replacement for the Holy Bible. It is not standalone. It is meant to be a companion to the Holy Bible, and that is also again one of our fundamental beliefs as members of the LDS church.

So anybody that tries to say otherwise, I'm sorry, but we'll just disagree at that point. And on that topic is Book of Mormon is a companion to the Holy Bible. Now as members of the church part of our belief is that we have modern-day prophets and the founder of the modern-day church is Joseph Smith. 

He founded the church in 1830 in New York, on the premise of being led by an Angel. His name is Moroni, and he's actually one of the prophets in the Book of Mormon. He was a historian who was responsible for collecting all of the books of scripture that make up the Book of Mormon, and he was basically given charge by the Savior to protect and watch over, so when the time was right, he shared that with Joseph Smith which is how the Book of Mormon essentially came about.

 But as the church had been officially formed and the church was growing Joseph Smith still with his prophetic role responsibility received many ongoing revelations from the Lord about the last days, the dealings of the church in the last days, where the world is going, and so in the what's called the Doctrine and Covenants. There are a few sections that do speak specifically to the second coming events of the Savior, so we will look at some of those as well as sources again to help us understand, pick apart trying and gain further light and knowledge on the topic of the second coming.

Then we also will look at those words from modern-day prophets, again some of them, go back to Joseph Smith. There have been prophets since Joseph Smith over the years, since 1830 and we have one today. The gentleman right here in the middle standing below the statue of the Savior is Russell M. Nelson. 

As of 2022 is the prophet, seer, and revelator for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And, as a whole and these other Brethren standing with him, the ones on the immediate left and the immediate right are his two counselors, Dallin H. Oaks and Henry B. Eyring. Those are his counselors, also who have received priesthood power and authority to be prophets, seers, and revelators. 

Then the other 12 Brethren make up the Quorum of The Twelve Apostles. Similarly, like we see the statues behind them as in the original 12 Apostles of Jesus Christ, these 12 Brethren also hold the priesthood keys and authority to be prophets, seers, and revelators and so they have over the years and during their apostleship have also shared their perspective their insights their understandings as it pertains to Last Day Events and so we look to them as additional supplement source for further light and knowledge as it pertains to trying to understand second coming events. 

Now there are going to be a couple of tools that we will periodically use and pull up on the screen. One is called the Blue Letter Bible and this is if you go back to my comment a minute ago about using different versions of the Bible, this is the tool that helps us do some side-by-side visual comparisons between the King James version and other versions of the Bible.

Then there is this resource called scripture citation Index it's put on by Brigham Young University, which is a great online tool that allows you to search by terms and topics and it will pull in instances and references whether those be in the scriptures or they be in magazine articles whether they be in conference talks. It's just kind of a quicker way to be able to quickly jump to and find a particular topic over and over and over again in multiple places, assuming they exist in multiple places that we can use for quick compare and contrast between them.

All in all, kind of lastly talking about me, I'm a lifelong member of the church, born into a family that some are members of the church. It runs through my history, through my Heritage. In fact my bloodline my through my father's line. We actually run all the way up to Hyrum Smith who is the brother of Joseph Smith who played a very strong role in supporting his brother and helping with the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in its early years.

In my early years, I did attend four years of Seminary. I did serve, albeit, briefly, a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I had to end that early due to medical reasons, but I have spent about 15 years of my life living in the state of Utah. So, I'm familiar with Utah very very well. I still have family that lives out there, but right now I actually live out in Kansas City Missouri. 

For any Latter-Day Saints, we will eventually talk about this in future videos showing one of the geographical locations that will be of importance to the second coming is an area called Independence, Missouri, which is just east of downtown Kansas City by about 15 minutes. I live about 10 minutes just south of Independence, and then there are other areas in Missouri. I live near a lot of these major areas, and I continue to watch. I even hear some rumblings from other members who are in the LDS Churches' PR department that are assigned locally here, and so it's kind of interesting to hear some of the inputs that they have that I hear from them from time to time about kind of what's going on behind the scenes in this area. 

So ultimately part of why I'm doing this Channel, and I apologize I don't have a slide for why I'm doing this channel, it all comes down to the fact that in my search for further light knowledge as to what the Lord wants me to do. One of the things I've done is I've gone to what is called a patriarchal blessing. Members of the church, locally have what is known as a patriarch just like in the days of old in the Old Testament and the patriarch holds a special ability and responsibility to give a special, one-time blessing that comes directly from the Lord that can provide insights to who you are as a person. 

Insights is to kind of a little bit about maybe your future, your future dealings, and so for mine personally one of the things they talked about is that if I sought the Council of the Holy Ghost, I would be inspired as to what I should do as a profession. Now admittedly and a little shame at least so when I first got into college I didn't adhere to that, and I went more off of my own personal interest and desires, and pursued a degree in business management and photography. 

I have really enjoyed you know the life of those that have come from a career opportunity, but I haven't always necessarily felt like they've been going exactly where I want them to go, and so I've gone to the Lord recently and reviewing my patriarchal blessing realizing that I had kind of overlooked and failed to do the research and the effort necessary to know what it is that I should do. 

One of the things in there is that I would be inspired as to what it is that I should do and I have spent time pondering, praying, fasting and even talking to some people about kind of what they see me being naturally good at, what are those things is speaking and teaching. I've had multiple people say, "You know I can see you being a really good teacher", and as I've pondered on that concept, it has been for me personally what I believe to be that confirmation of what it is the Lord wants me to do, is to teach. 

So, as I've gone to the Lord about follow-up questions of okay what do you want me to teach, who am I teaching to, what am I teaching, how do I teach, it has come to mind that this is the through the use of YouTube another online streaming sources this is how I would teach is through what I know and understand about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and specifically around the topics of the second coming. 

I've had many conversations with people where they've asked me you know kind of questions or sources to validate some of my personal opinions and claims about the topic, and so this kind of reaffirms part of my purposes so that as I do talk to people about this topic, something I believe to be very important in fact, the Savior himself has told us to look for his return so this is I'm doing what I feel like I should be doing is teaching and providing this resource here.

This is video 1 of I have no idea how many um if you guys have any particular topics on the subject of his second coming specifically uh by all means, uh feel free to drop those comments in the chat below um any thoughts or feedbacks. 

You may have now if your goal is to be a keyboard Warrior to try and convince me uh of my beliefs otherwise good luck. It ain't gonna work so I just say save your energy to do that with somebody else. But, I do welcome uh you know genuine feedback you know on you know there are things that need to improve whether it be the way I'm visually presenting content the topics we're talking about uh the audio quality I hope this sound okay um and you guys can hear me and there's not a lot of background noise um and I do want to add. 

One other little thing about kind of how I'm trying to be different than others out there that are doing on this topic a lot of them do really long-form videos that run an hour or two or three. My long-term goal is to try and keep these much much shorter I'm thinking somewhere between 10 to 15 minutes a little more bite-sized. 

I'm thinking about presenting you know kinds of topics and re and scriptural resources for you to then go in and do your own research because that ultimately is going to be the key here is that anything I do say I'm human I may make mistakes. I may not fully understand the concepts, and you need to do what it is that I'm doing and that is searching the scriptures genuinely fasting, and praying to gain further light knowledge to have the ice to see the ears to hear the promptings of the spirit about what is true what is right and what it is that you may need to be doing in response to some of these topics. 

Some of these things that we're going to talk about um so my goal here is to keep these videos much shorter much more digestible. Um if you're looking for something maybe a little longer form in this format that may be something I can look at doing as a membership benefit for those that want more but for the general purpose my goal is to just get out in front of people share some just kind of high-level information, get people thinking, get people hopefully talking in a civil manner. 

I really want people to be civil about this not something or a topic that we should be getting overly worked up about and upset about. Can we have different interpretations sure um the reality is that as long as we are basing it off of the scriptures, off of the teachings, and the words of the Savior himself, personally first and foremost, secondary by any additional sources of um those in authority to speak, meaning prophets and apostles um then we should be doing well? 

My goal is not to give you your or to give you your own testimony. You need to go get it yourself. You needed to develop it yourself I'm simply here to hopefully be a tool to inspire and to provide another way of thinking a Clarity of thought to help you work through some of your questions, so please any questions you do have a comment below share this video like this video, and I look forward to talking with you soon.
